Hi Fred, you're on the right track. On the N7X, 5 flashes means the board is still sensing flame after it has shut the gas off. It only happens when you're traveling, so wind and vibration are the most likely cause. Wind forcing air through the lower vent can make the flame linger or wander, or keep the sensor hot long enough that the board thinks the flame is still lit.
Things to check:
1. Make sure the burner and flue are clean and the flue baffle is in place. 2. Check that the outside vents are correct and not letting wind blast straight across the burner. Some owners add a wind deflector. 3. If it keeps happening, the gas valve may not be closing sharply. On the N7X that's the gas valve, sparker and burner assembly 639572.
