It sounds like the thermostat control is stuck closed, so the compressor never shuts off. On the NR740, the control assembly handles both the on/off and the temperature. The Thermostat Control Assembly 635832 and 635926 have both been discontinued by Norcold. The NR740 is discontinued too, and Norcold's replacement is the Norcold DC740.
