It could be the interrupter, but that symptom means the gas valve isn't getting enough signal from the thermocouple to stay open. The whole circuit is: the thermocouple, the interrupter, and the magnet in the gas valve. Hold the button for a full 30 seconds after it lights so the thermocouple heats up. Make sure the thermocouple tip is in the flame, and clean and tighten each connection. If it still drops out, try bypassing the interrupter for a moment by connecting the thermocouple straight to the valve (as a test only). If it stays lit, the interrupter is bad.
