It could be the electrode, but your description points to the high-voltage path. If it sparks at the board when you unplug the wire but not at the burner, the spark is leaking somewhere between the board and the burner tip. Check the electrode lead for cracks or chafing, and make sure the ceramic isn't cracked. The spark has to jump from the tip to the burner, so the burner must have a clean, solid ground. A gap of about 1/8 inch is typical. The Spark Sense Electrode 636872/690877 has been discontinued by Norcold, so it's only available while our remaining stock lasts.
