A fast-blinking HLS means the high-temperature limit switch (the recall safety device) has tripped because the boiler overheated. That's usually a sign the cooling unit is failing. A crackling noise at the boiler area is a serious warning sign. Turn the fridge off and don't keep resetting it. See our fire hazard article and thermal safety switch article.
