The N3104 is a 3-way fridge, so you can test it on 120V AC with a regular extension cord. It also needs 12V DC to power the control board, even in AC mode. A small 12V power supply or a car battery will do. Level it, turn it on in AC mode and give it several hours. The freezer should get noticeably cold. You can't safely test propane without a proper gas hookup and venting. The N3104/N4104 line has been discontinued by Norcold. The current 3-way model is the Norcold N4150.
