When a 3-way runs on DC but not reliably on AC or gas, I'd look at the control boards first. They run the AC heater and the gas ignition, while DC is a simpler circuit. Check for any code on the display, make sure you have 120V at the outlet behind the fridge, and check the fuse on the power board.
If those check out, the 691449 power and optical board kit for the N3150 is the usual fix. The N3150 has been discontinued, and if you ever need to replace it, the N4150 is its replacement.
