A flashing 88 with beeping usually points to a communication or low-voltage problem between the display and the control module. First, check the battery voltage right at the fridge while it's trying to run, and check the connections on the ribbon cable between the display and the module. If both are good, the control module 640178 or the optical board 641592 is next.
