Open at 1 (off) and near zero ohms at the other settings is what a closed thermostat switch looks like while it's calling for cold, so that alone doesn't mean it's bad. The real test is whether it opens once the fridge gets cold. If it never opens and the fridge freezes, or it won't close when it's warm, it's bad. The 623297 thermostat control is in stock.
