The fan pulls hot air off the cooling unit, which helps a lot on hot days when absorption fridges struggle. The only trade-off is a small 12V draw when it runs. It kicks on only when things get hot. The NA7LXF has been superseded by the Norcold N7X, which comes with the fan installed.
